DIY: Wall Decals Give the Hand Painted Look at the Right Price
Posted by Kaitlin in Interior Design, Kids Wall Decals, Wall Decals on March 2nd, 2010
Why pay high prices for hand painted work, when you can get the same effect for a fraction of the cost? Who says you can’t spark some creativity and “Do It Yourself”?
At Surface Graphics we offer a great deal of exceptionally detailed and unique wall decals. Whether you are looking to provide warmth to a child’s room or adding a modern twist to your office space, we have a range of wall decals to match any taste. Our ultra thin vinyl gives our decals the painted on look that is trendy, affordable, and can be instantly removable.

The application is as easy as 1, 2, 3! First you must lay your wall decal down on a hard flat surface. Using the provided squeege, scrap across the decal to ensure that the decal is firmly pressed against the transfer sheet.

Second, carefully peel back the clear transfer sheet with the decal adhered to it, and the sticky side facing outward.

Third, place the decal in the desired place and position. Smooth over using the squeege, ensuring the removal of any air bubbles. Slowly peel away the transfer sheet parallel to the surface, leaving the decal on the desired surface.
Et voila…
Makeover any surface in your house, office, apartment, dorm etc. using Surface Graphics wall decals. Visit our Facebook and Twitter pages to take advantage of this week’s special promotion. And don’t forget to go to the Surface Graphics website to see all the wall decals we offer!
Wall Decal Decision Time
Posted by admin in Wall Decals on July 1st, 2009
Are you looking for a wall decal but not sure how to choose the perfect design? It can be difficult to choose a wall decal today as the choices are plenty and we only have so many surfaces to cover. I recommend that you consider four items if you are struggling to make a decision:
1) Area
2) Utility
3) Design
4) Color
What area are you planning to fill?
Is the space square, tall and rectangular or long and wide? Are you looking for a wall decal to sit above furniture, like a couch or table, or will your decal fill an entire wall? This will help you choose the size or configuration of the decal. For example, if you plan to fill an entire wall, perhaps you will choose a decal that comes in many pieces, like the Pebbles, or My Way (pictured right) designs that can be applied in an infinite number of designs. If you have a smaller space to dress, above your couch for instance, you may choose a more simple design like the New York City Skyline or The Roses. A tall narrow space may call for a larger wall decal like The Gentleman or Electric Wire. The idea here is to first plan out the space you want to fill and the amount of coverage you are looking for.

Notes From ICFF 2009
Posted by Brian in Designers We Love, Events, Interior Design on May 22nd, 2009
On Monday we were lucky enough to sneak away and head to the International Contemporary Furniture Fair. ICFF was great this year showcasing the latest in contemporary design from around the world. The international presence at ICFF makes it one of the best contemporary design shows. It was great meeting new and upcoming designers, many whom have shifted their focus to sustainable and green design!

Molded woods continue to be a driving force in interior design trends. These latest takes on the original Eames molded plywood chairs have a great contemporary feel.

Caged In – High Fashion Meets Home Decor
With fashion arbiters the likes of Maison Martin Margiela, Fendi, and Missoni branching out into interior design, it’s no secret that haute couture often finds itself homeward bound. But that’s not to say the interior design world doesn’t find itself looking towards ready-to-wear for inspiration. Taking a page from the fashion set whose spring runways have been overrun this season with all things caged, design heavy-hitters are starting to show their affinity for wire work.

When it comes to fine crisscross design, the much gabbed about Yves Saint Laurent cage heel boot and the supermarket-inspired red Miu Miu basket bag seem to find a kindred spirit in a few similarly inspired lattice outdoorsy items.
In Living Color
Posted by Wendy in Interior Design on April 1st, 2009
Recessionomics doesn’t mean your home décor has to suffer and fade into the background. No drab and dull shades of gray need apply this season as analysts predict the months ahead will bring about a spring awakening… at least when it comes to your room colors. The Color Marketing Group-arbiters of what color palette will be all the range up to 19 months in advance-forecast a year peppered with every color in your Crayola box. “We’re finding comfort in colors that are familiar, and yet, at the same time, we’re embracing colors that make us happy-especially as accents,” says the international association’s executive director Jaime Stephens. So go ahead and find your happy place! Then get set to color outside of the lines with these eye-catching hues that are set to dominate this year’s color wheel.
Something new, something old, something borrowed, something BLUE:

This primary color will be sure to give your space a punch of color. Just take a page from actress-cum-musician Zooey Deschanel who recently turned her study into a blue-on-blue soundproof studio layered with cobalt and light blue walls and swathed in blue gingham chair coverings. If cobalt is too bright too soon, pare it down with a lighter shade of robin egg blue.
