Decal Design Trend: Dots
Posted by Brian in Wall Decals on August 10th, 2009
Currently on display at the Gagosian Gallery is a collection of prominent contemporary artists work all with a central focus of dots. Dots have become a growing trend in the design world. The exhibit, Ecstatic Abstraction, features works by art icons Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Roy Lichtenstein, and Yayoi Kusama. Damien Hirst has been experimenting with colored dots in his works since the early 1990s. His symmetrically arranged dots add an instant pop of color and fun to a space. His works adorn the walls of the worlds most discerning contemporary art collectors.

Japanese artist and trendsetter Yayoi Kusama translated her obsession with polka-dots into her paintings, installations and sculptures. Kusama expresses her visions of nets, dots and flowers by covering everything she sees including sculptures, walls, and even a handbag collection for Marc Jacobs. The use of bold colors, repetition, patterns and accumulation have become her trademark, instantly delivering you into pop art heaven.
