Surface Graphics is Popping Out in Prague

Our unique and edgy wall decals are catching the attention of consumers across the world, and are traveling abroad more and more each day it seems. This time we have landed in the Czech Republic, in a very modern and retro boutique, Escape Be Popout.

They provide an unmatched display of wall decals mixed with furniture, wall hangings, and chic home decor that creates fascinating eye illusions. The designers have used the stylish and trendy wall decals from Surface Graphics to expand on their vision of escaping from the ordinary world which they have created in the store. We are pleased to be an addition to what Escape Be Popout has to offer.

Surface Wall Decals Now At Hot Shop, Maison24

From virtual to reality, Surface Graphics’ Wall Decals make a real-life retail foray at one of Southampton’s favorite stores, Maison 24.  After having devoted the last 18 months to building the e-commerce store, our wall decals are getting a smidgen closer to the third dimension after being picked up by the sibling duo of Allison Julius and Louis Marra, owners of Maison 24. The sister-brother team — late of Jonathan Adler (she as PR Director and he as VP) — left New York to set up their home furnishings shop in the picturesque hamlet of Bridgehampton last year.

Known for their whimsical sensibilities, the store is filled with an eclectic mix of acrylic Louis chairs, life size Belle du Jour posters, Fornasetti pieces, and Taschen coffee table tomes that set the backdrop for wall decal favorites from our script-centric Talking Walls and city dweller-inspired Urban Jungle lines.

One recent customer at the shop raved, “They look so real!  And the details are so good – - they look like they’re painted on the wall.”

Weekly Twitter Tid Bits

twitter220pxIt’s been a very busy week and I haven’t had a ton of time to devote to my usual twitter searches. I have however learned about a few new things and hope you’ll enjoy what I’m sharing today. A few great Tweets covered companies and designers that were so much fun I decided they deserved their own posts. Those will be out next week.

There are many well informed, creative, and active people using Twitter, and sharing their new discoveries and passions. Thank you all for your insights and updates. Here are a few interesting Tweets that I read, learned from, and loved this week:

@museummodernart “The Ordinary as Object of Desire” – Robert Smith’s review of our “What was Good Design?” exhibition. http://tr.im/nyKN
This is a great article on industrial design in review of “What Was Good Design? MoMA’s Message 1944-56” runs through Nov. 30 at the Museum of Modern Art.

“What is good design?” may not be one of life’s great existential questions, but it ranks high among those that plague modern times. It is at least as old as the Industrial Revolution and the accompanying rise of factories, cheap manufactured goods and urban crowding. These developments created problems and opportunities that city planners, architects and designers have been triumphing or tripping over ever since. The results have ranged from brilliant to tragic, as a casual look at any American city will tell you.

Weekly Twitter Tidbits

twitter200pxwI’ve seen a lot of activity out there in Twitterville this week, especially with the International Contemporary Furniture Fair going on in NY.  Brian attended the show and sent notes and photos,  take a look here.

I generally search Interior Decor, Decoration, Industrial Design, Architecture, Decals, Wall Decals, Wall Stickers, etc when looking through Twitter to learn more about hot trends and industry happenings. The truth is, when I look into wall decals I only find advertisements, not from The Surface Store of course, we work to give you interesting content. And if one day you decide you’d like a wall decal, well we hope you’ll head over to our website and consider us! Until then…
